Scadding Court’s Science Learning Integrated into Community Environments (SLICE) initiative is about exposure to, learning about and participating in scientific thinking and activities.
We aim to:
Present science in a relevant, fun, hands-on, interactive way
Integrate science education into many of our programs
Encourage children and youth to explore science/engineering as career options
Increase the scientific literacy of the general public
Some of the ways that we do this are:
After-school Science Clubs
Science workshops in child and youth programs
An interactive science wall in our lobby
Community science fair
Special projects like Gone Fishin’ – our annual indoor trout pond
Using our website to make user-friendly ‘slices of science’ available to the public
