A variety of programs and services geared towards families with children 0-6. Most programs are FREE with SCCC membership!

EarlyON Child and Family Centre

Children Early Years Programs

A relaxing and child friendly space staffed by Early Childhood Educators in which children and their parents/caregivers can play, learn, participate in activities, make friends, and find resources and information about parenting issues and programs.

Families Reading Together

Family Early Years Programs

A six (6) week family literacy program that helps parents/caregivers understand how children begin to read and to develop and support pre-reading skills. Weekly sessions offer fun activities, discussion, as well as play and circle time to encourage reading skills.

Family Math

Family Math Early Years Programs

A program that encourages children to learn the beginnings of arithmetic such as measurement, estimation, counting, sorting, and graphing through concepts used in the real world. The program uses everyday materials and fun games to help build an understanding of basic math concepts.

Healthy Foundations

Health Early Years Programs

Encourages and promotes families and children to take an approach to a healthier lifestyle through physical activities, knowledge and skills to take action and maintain good eating and exercise habits. Promotes an integrated approach of physical movement skills to be continued at home.

Indoor Park Drop-In

Sports Early Years Programs

A safe, supervised environment that lets children be active and meet their physical development needs by running, using riding toys and bicycles, playing games, and interacting with others. Parents/caregivers must remain with their children.

Parenting Program

Youth Early Years Programs

A solution-focused program in which young parents learn about child development, safe positive interventions to manage challenging childhood behaviours, meet other supportive parents and develop prevention and intervention strategies. Childcare provided.

Steps to Learning

Children Early Years Programs

Child language, social, reasoning and self-help skills through literacy enhancement, encouragement of pre-reading skills, letters, numeracy, circle time, sensory activities with healthy eating and nutrition integrated into activities. Workshops for parents/caregivers on parenting and educational issues included.
