June is Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day is June 21
June, and all year, is a time to honour and celebrate the history, heritage and diversity of Indigenous peoples in Canada. It is also an opportunity to learn about, appreciate, and acknowledge the contributions that First Nations, Inuit, and Metis people have made in shaping Canada. We all have an active role to play in recognizing the history of Indigenous communities and engaging in meaningful acts towards reconciliation.
