SCCC Black History Month statement

Black History Month is an important time for Scadding Court Community Centre (SCCC) to honour the rich and diverse contributions of Black Canadians who have shaped our history, culture, and community resilience. It is also an opportunity for education, reflection and dialogue. The theme for Black History Month 2024 is ‘Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build’. We encourage everyone to join SCCC in our commitment to continue to learn about Black history and Black experiences as well as reflect on unconscious biases that may be contributing to cycles of oppression. Throughout the month, SCCC will be hosting a series of events and discussions that centre around the experiences, achievements and challenges faced by Black communities with the aim of promoting cultural awareness, fostering inclusivity, and inspiring meaningful conversations.
